I'm very happy with my new mixer. The only drawback is that it is difficult to add some ingredients such as flour.
 I'm sure I'd give it 5 stars if it was in working form when shipped to me September 1, 2010

To be honest I was ecstatic when I ordered this mixer for myself as a birthday present. I'm in the kitchen most of my life, big on cooking and baking/deserts etc. It's very aesthetically pleasing, looks well in my kitchen and is very sturdy. But my "off" switch did not come in working order when it arrived on my doorstep. There's a sliding switch for all the levels. (off, 1, 2, 3....)My "off" is level 1. So is my level 1. If I plug it in in the "off" position, it turns on. If I switch it to level 1, it stays at the same speed. There is no change in speed/level until I switch to level 2. This is something I still haven't gotten fixed, almost 2 years later. Living in the middle of New York City with no car and the subway as my only form of transportation, it's very hard to haul such a heavy item all by my tiny (5'6, 115 lbs...I can't carry this more than 2 feet let alone to the subway station, down 2 flights of steps, to the stop, up 2 flights of steps...you get my point-WITH a 4 month old baby in tow. It's just not happening). So it's a hassle to say the least. BUT otherwise it's a good piece of equipment. Kitchenaid is a great brand and I'm sure once I get around to needing to get it fixed they will gladly help.

I purchased this mixer as a shower gift for my son and future daughter-in-law. They had it on their Bridal Registry at a well known home products store, but I was able to purchase the exact model they wanted through Amazon and save $81.00! I ordered the mixer online 5 days before the bridal shower and did not expect it to arrive until several days after the shower. The ship date listed on the check out page showed that the mixer wouldn't ship until the day AFTER the shower. Imagine my surprise when it arrived, in mint condition, 2 days BEFORE the shower!! I was not planning on bringing it to the shower, as it's kind of heavy, bulky, so the original ship date was not a problem. I think I'm going to purchase another one for my daughter for Christmas. The online order process was a snap... Thank you, Amazon!!

I blew up my last mixer making a cheese cake after letting the cream cheese come to room temp. I can throw cold from the fridge cream cheese in this mixer and have smooth cheesecake batter in under 10 minutes. I can't believe I have lived this long without it. There's not a week that goes by that I haven't put this to work in one fashion or another at least twice but usually more. I can't wait to get attachments for it!!!!
