Does everything USA today review said it would. Can tell why it was rated one of the best. My friends say I sound so much better now over the link. Also makes great recordings. Was going to get this anyway, went to Amazon because they had it one third less than anyone else.

I was looking for a high quality mic to plug and play with my pc at an affordable price and that is exactly what i got when i purchased and received this Blue Yeti Microphone. I watched a ton of vids on Youtube and read many reviews internet wide before i purchased it and the only complaints i noticed about it which was shared by almost everyone was that the volume knob is loose. It is a little loose but it seems more like it's floating or on shocks, it's not as cheap as i expected it to be from the reviews. This mic is a beast at 3.5 pounds, it is extremely sturdy and stationary. It has a built-in mic stand that i think is perfect and acts as somewhat of a shock mount being that it is a condenser mic, it does pick up everything so when you bump the table or anything you will hear it in the mic but if it were on a boom (which you could easily do with the hole on the bottom of the Yeti, after you disconnect it from it's stand)it would pick up a whole lot more so i wouldn't recommend that. No software needed, just simply plug it into your Mac or PC with the included usb cord, your computer should automatically detect it. You may wanna go into your sound options on your mac or pc afterwards to set it up so your yeti is setup as your mic instead of your built-in mic if you use a laptop like i do and if you are using headphones through the Yeti you may wanna set your speaker output to them then you should be good to go. There are a couple other options, like for instance if you want to hear your vocals as well as the music through your headphones for music production then you would need to set that up in the sound options as well. Other than that, just loudness, bass boost and the sound quality you want to hear in your headphones...all options should be in your sound options. I am using a pc with Windows 7 64 Bit Home Edition though so i guess it really depends on what you use. I also saw a review saying the instruction booklet that it comes with is not in English which is completely fabricated as it has both English and i'm assuming the other is Spanish but i'm not sure. The sound quality is superb, for the money i think the Blue Yeti blows away all it's competition from what i've seen, read and experienced myself so with all that being said, i highly recommend this mic to anyone, whether you are using it for music production, pod casting or whatever you would need a mic for, this is it like M.J. said !

This mic is incredible. I bought it because it was a Mac break weekly recommendation and it has lived up to my expectations.
It has several recording modes which makes it easy to find one that suites your conditions. For me the omni direction worked best with people moving around and making noise in the office halls. Very little noise got picked up, we only has to re-record a couple times. Build quality is very good and solid. Was truly plug and play and is also now my default Skype mic.
Overall superb product. It is a little bigger than you think when you get it out of the box.
Truly 5 star product.

I wanted a simple nice microphone to sync with my webcam or HD camera to create videos of my covers (acoustic guitar/sing) for upload to youtube. First, there is an annoying rythmic popping that develops when combined with the webcam, my Zoom H2 did this too, but USB connectivity is not the H2 real purpose.
The killer is it just gets dropped by the PC as an available USB device. One moment, one song take, its there, its recording, then its gone and it doesn't like to come back. I've changed cords and ports, I have plenty of USB devices and no other problems. I have really come to the conclusion that USB based microphones are just a bad idea. More headaches then they are worth.
